The Dynamic Spectrum Alliance participated in WAPALOZA 2025, held from 23 to 25 June in Johannesburg, as part of the “Wireless Without Limits” conference organized by the Wireless Access Providers Association (WAPA).
The event brought together global spectrum leaders to discuss the future of wireless connectivity. During the conference, Dr. Martha Suarez, President of the Dynamic Spectrum Alliance, took part in a panel on Spectrum Sharing, where she emphasized the crucial role of shared spectrum in expanding connectivity and fostering innovation.
In an interview with TechCentral, Dr. Suarez explained how dynamic and licence-exempt models are transforming the digital ecosystem, and highlighted South Africa’s leadership in implementing spectrum sharing policies. “There was a time — now passing — when spectrum was seen only as a source of revenue. Today, it must be managed as a public resource in service of development,” she stated.

The following day, she continued her participation as a keynote speaker with a presentation titled “The Upper 6 GHz Band – A Global Perspective”. In this session, Dr. Suarez highlighted the relevance of the 5925–7125 MHz band in the international connectivity landscape. She presented the various use cases for Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7, as well as the global progress toward license-free access to the 6 GHz band.
As the event concluded, the Dynamic Spectrum Alliance thanked the Wireless Access Providers Association for an inspiring conference. We were honored to contribute to the event with a session led by Dr. Martha Suarez on the global momentum toward license-exempt access to the full 5925–7125 MHz band.
