Digital Access Programme
UK - Foreign, Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO)
Digital development is defined as supporting the inclusive, responsible and sustainable digital transformation of partner countries in developing and emerging economies (Brazil, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa). We do this through a number of initiatives, policies and programmes, and recently the FCDO published the new Digital Development Strategy 2024 - 2030, which includes a number of key commitments to support the FCDO's partner countries in their digital transformation. The commitments cover many topics such as digital public infrastructure, the importance of closing the gender digital gap and the role of AI in development, but the most important outcome of the strategy is last mile connectivity, as it is a very important condition for accelerating digital development goals.
